ACM LIFTING LIVES® ANNOUNCES 2014 GRANT CYCLE RECIPIENTS

Organization Gives $169,000

 

ENCINO, CA (December 17, 2014) – ACM Lifting Lives,® dedicated to improving lives through the power of music, announced its 2014 beneficiaries today, including new grants for CreatiVets, LiveBeyond, Notes for Notes, Inc.,Porter’s Call,The Quest Center for Arts & Community Development, Rochelle Center, Shepherd Center Music Therapy for Veterans, Tapping Individual Potential (T.I.P.), W.O. Smith/Nashville Community Music School and Youth For Tomorrow – New Life Center, Inc. This brings the organization's total giving for the 2014 grant cycle to $169,000, which includes funding for the 5th Annual ACM Lifting Lives Music Camp that took place in June.  Through grant cycles, ACM Lifting Lives is able to provide funding to programs that promote education and healing with a musical connection. 

“ACM Lifting Lives is honored to support these wonderful organizations nationwide that value the healing power of music,” said ACM Lifting Lives Chairman Bill Mayne, “We are so grateful that we were able to increase our giving this year thanks to the artists, industry members and fans that support ACM Lifting Lives throughout the year.”

Programs funded during the 2014 ACM Lifting Lives grant cycle include:

  • CreatiVets in Washburn, IL – received funds for their ongoing project, which provides veterans with an all-expenses paid trip to Nashville during which they are paired with professional songwriters who help the veterans create songs that tell their stories to help cope with the psychological and emotional needs that arise from combat-related trauma.
  • LiveBeyondin Nashville, TN – received funds to implement a music therapy program to give the people of Thomazeau, Haiti the opportunity to reap the benefits of the healing power of music.   
  • Notes for Notes, Inc. in Los Angeles, CA – received funds to support programming in Notes for Notes two Los Angeles based locations in Santa Monica and West Gabriel. Notes for Notes offers youth the opportunity to explore, create, and record music free of charge by providing them with access to fully equipped and staffed after-school recording studios inside Boys & Girls Clubs.
  • Porter’s Call in Nashville, TN – received funds to pay for an additional part-time staff counselor to help meet the needs of clients who request assistance. Porter’s Call provides counsel and support to artists who are facing the unique challenges that can often accompany the vocation of performing and creating.
  • The Quest Center for Arts & Community Development in Dickson, TN – received funds will go towards new music education services for their general after-school program in an effort to make music and music education available to all members of the community.
  • Rochelle Center in Nashville, TN – received funds to implement a music therapy program for the Center’s clients - adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Funds will purchase a portion of the music therapy equipment and help pay a portion of Music Therapists fees.
  • Shepherd Center Music Therapy for Veterans in Atlanta, GA – received funds to purchase instruments and gear to enhance their existing Music Therapy program that is provided to patients with brain injuries and spinal cord injuries as well as their Gulf War Veterans with brain injuries and PTSD.
  • Tapping Individual Potential (T.I.P.) in Nashville, TN – received funds to support 25 – 30 financially disadvantaged music students with outstanding talent, individualized enrichment-like music lessons. 
  • W.O. Smith Nashville Community Music School in Nashville, TN – received funds to provide music supplies and continued music study to students in the Nashville area. Through this grant, the school is able to further its mission of providing affordable, quality music instruction to children who would otherwise not have access to such opportunities.
  • Youth For Tomorrow – New Life Center, Inc. in Bristow, VA – received funds will be used to support the music therapy component of their Girls On A Journey program treatment plan, which provides residential, educational and counseling services for girls victimized by domestic minor sex trafficking.
